General Summary
Part-Time Pharmacy Technician Instructor - Odessa, Andrews & Pecos
Odessa College is seeking a Part-Time Pharmacy Technician Instructor to deliver instruction online and/or face-to-face in support of Odessa College's commitment to academic excellence and community service. Instructor will use Blackboard in addition to face-to-face teaching.
This role is responsible for teaching and coordinating pharmacy technician and related health science courses, including contributing to curriculum development and coordinating laboratory and clinical experiences. The instructor must ensure all instruction and training comply with Texas State Board of Pharmacy regulations. Classes are held twice per week in the evenings, from 6:00-9:00 p.m., and may take place at campuses in Odessa, Andrews, and/or Pecos.

This role is responsible for teaching and coordinating pharmacy technician and related health science courses, including contributing to curriculum development and coordinating laboratory and clinical experiences. The instructor must ensure all instruction and training comply with Texas State Board of Pharmacy regulations. Classes are held twice per week in the evenings, from 6:00-9:00 p.m., and may take place at campuses in Odessa, Andrews, and/or Pecos.
Specific Position Duties
- Deliver instruction that fully covers course content as outlined in the syllabus and catalog, while clearly connecting learning objectives to career pathways and employer expectations.
- Knowledge of PTCB (Pharmacy Tech Certification Board) regulations and requirements.
- Knowledge of Pharmacy Tech certification exam content.
- Proficiency in computer applications and office/pharmacy equipment with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Implement assessment and evaluation strategies to measure student learning outcomes and achieve established performance benchmarks, while maintaining institutional standards for student satisfaction.
- Foster student engagement, persistence, and success through creative, collaborative, and student-centered instructional approaches.
- Adhere to scheduled class times by beginning and ending each class as designated and providing a complete instructional period.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom and/or laboratory environment that is prepared for subsequent use.
- Provide academic support, tutoring, and guidance to students who require additional assistance.
- Submit accurate and timely student grades in accordance with established deadlines and college policies.
- Maintain precise attendance records in compliance with the Attendance Policy, including daily roster submissions and a clearly labeled record of attendance and grades submitted at the end of the term.
- Contact students regarding absences and submit written reports of relevant information to the Program Director as required.
- Participate in adjunct faculty training sessions, in-service meetings, and other college-sponsored events, as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Candidates must be certified as a pharmacy technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
- Minimum of three (3) years of work experience as Pharmacy Technician.
- Experience in pharmacy settings: retail, hospital
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in a health science-related field.
- Experience teaching adult students.
