Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) – Adolescent PHP/IOP (1099 Contractor)

Inward Healthcare provides adolescent Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) services in a supportive, family-involved, multidisciplinary environment. Our clients are adolescents experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, mood disorders (and related concerns such as school avoidance, mood dysregulation, self-harm history, and trauma).
Position Summary
We are seeking a PMHNP (preferred) to oversee psychiatric care for adolescents enrolled in PHP/IOP. This role focuses on evidence-informed psychiatric assessment, medication management, and close collaboration with families and our treatment team. The ideal clinician is warm, confident with teens and parents, and values a coordinated, team-based model of care.
Schedule: Start at ~6 hours/week with opportunity to grow as census increases.
Preferred Tue/Thu 4:00–7:00pm, but days/hours are negotiable for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
-Psychiatric Evaluation & Medication Management
-Conduct initial psychiatric evaluations/diagnostic assessments and develop medication treatment plans.
- Provide ongoing medication management and follow-up appointments based on clinical need and program cadence.
- Monitor medication effectiveness, side effects, and safety parameters.
- Maintain timely, high-quality documentation consistent with clinical, ethical, and payer requirements.
Coordination of Care & Family Collaboration
- Coordinate psychiatric care with parents/guardians through psychoeducation and shared decision-making.
- Collaborate with therapists, case management, schools (as appropriate), and outside providers (PCPs, outpatient psychiatrists/therapists).
- Support transition planning and continuity of care at admission and discharge.
Multidisciplinary Team Participation
- Join treatment team meetings and contribute psychiatric input to individualized treatment planning.
- Communicate clearly and proactively about risk considerations, medication changes, and clinical updates.
- Align with the program’s multidisciplinary approach to ensure consistent messaging and cohesive care.
Safety / Risk Management
- Assess and respond to safety concerns (SI, self-harm risk, mood instability) within program protocols.
- Collaborate with the team on safety planning and level-of-care recommendations when indicated.
Compliance & Professional Standards
- Practice within scope, licensing requirements, and applicable state/federal regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement activities as requested and uphold standards for adolescent behavioral healthcare.
Qualifications
Required
- Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in California (or ability to obtain promptly).
- DEA registration (or ability to obtain).
- Experience in psychiatric assessment and medication management (adolescents preferred).
- Strong communication skills and comfort engaging parents/guardians as partners in care.
- Team-oriented approach with excellent clinical judgment and documentation habits.
Preferred
- PMHNP certification.
- Prior experience in PHP/IOP, residential, or higher-acuity outpatient adolescent settings.
- Familiarity with CBT/DBT-informed environments and collaborative treatment planning.
- Experience coordinating across systems (schools, outpatient providers, primary care).

Contractor Terms (1099)
- This is a 1099 independent contractor role; no benefits are provided.
- Paid hourly for agreed clinical services and required treatment team participation.
- Opportunity to expand hours as the program grows.
