Video Editor Needed — Occult/Esoteric YouTube Channel (Dark + Educational Style)
I run an esoteric YouTube channel called "Veil and Shadow" focused on occult practices, spirit work, and magickal traditions. I'm looking for a skilled video editor to bring a polished, atmospheric, and cinematic quality to my long-form content.
The first project is a 30-35 minute deep-dive episode on working with Santa Muerte — a folk saint/deity venerated across Latin America and the occult world. The voice-over recordings are complete. I need an editor who can transform the raw audio into a visually compelling, immersive experience.
*The Vibe*
A hybrid of dark, moody atmosphere and clean educational presentation. Think:
- The cinematic b-roll and storytelling pacing of "Let's Talk Religion"
- The dark, atmospheric tone of "Arith Härger"
- The polished clarity of "Religion for Breakfast"
- With its own occult edge — sigils, candlelight, smoke, skulls, sacred geometry
This is NOT a horror channel. The tone is reverent, knowledgeable, and grounded, but visually rich and dark.
*What I Need*
Visual Elements
- Dark color grading — deep blacks, warm candlelight tones, subtle red/gold accents
- Atmospheric transitions — smoke, particle effects, subtle glows (tasteful, not overdone)
- B-roll sourcing & placement — altars, candles, statues, flowers, incense, religious iconography, botanica footage, etc. (royalty-free or stock — I can also provide some of my own footage)
- On-screen text & typography — clean, readable text overlays for lists (herbs, oils, robe colors, etc.) that appear on screen as reference material for viewers
- Subtle motion graphics — sigil animations, glow effects on symbols, section title cards
- Chapter markers / section title cards — the video has ~10 distinct sections that need clear visual transitions
Audio/Sound Design
- Clean audio mixing of voice-over
- Ambient sound design — subtle background drones, atmospheric tension where appropriate
- Background music (dark ambient, cinematic — I can provide direction or you can suggest)
- Smooth audio transitions between sections
Pacing & Retention
- YouTube-optimized pacing — visual changes every 5-10 seconds to maintain engagement
- Strategic use of zoom, pan, and reframing on any talking-head segments
- Engaging hook in the first 15 seconds
Deliverables
- Fully edited video in 4K* (or 1080p minimum), YouTube-ready
